Leonard F. Flynn Environmental Scholarship
Marydee Flynn

The NRT Leonard and Marydee Flynn Environmental Scholarship is a $2,000.00 scholarship awarded by the Natural Resources Trust of Mansfield to a maximum of two Mansfield students ($2,000 to one student or $1,000 to two students) who have demonstrated a commitment to the environment.

Leonard and Marydee Flynn were founding members of the Natural Resources Trust of Mansfield and were lifelong conservationists and tireless advocates of preserving and protecting the environment.

Lenny served as president of the NRT for 18 years. Under his leadership, the NRT, working with the Mansfield Conservation Commission and other agencies, acquired over 800 acres of land for passive recreation in Mansfield. Leonard lived in Mansfield for 48 years and died in 2015 at the age of 81. Marydee championed the establishment of our Great Woods acquisition plan and negotiated with the landowners to sell or gift hundreds of acres of land to the Town and NRT. Marydee was married to Lenny for 53 years. She died in 2022 at age 85. This scholarship is dedicated to the Lenny & Marydee and to their passion for land conservation.

GRlT all-terrain freedom chairs

Do you have difficulty navigating trails?

GRIT all-terrain Freedom Chairs are available to borrow from the Mansfield Public Library’s “Library of Things.” These innovative chairs can be self-propelled with your arms or pushed by someone else, making it easier to navigate uneven topography. Thanks to a partial grant from the town’s Non-Profit Gift Fund, the Natural Resources Trust of Mansfield purchased and donated one adult and one child’s chair to help more people enjoy the town’s beautiful nature trails. Use the QR code to learn more about the chairs.
