Corporal Robert Francis Hardy Conservation Area. (formerly known as the Maple Park Conservation Area) is at the Northern end of the Mansfield Canoe River Greenbelt.
This area is located behind the Mansfield Public Safety building on East Street, it is best accessed off of Maple Street, near the entrance to the Cate Springs Well. There is parking at the entrance and across Maple Street.
There are several trails, old forest roads, and paths through this area. There are a nice variety of trees and shrubs, with the Atlantic White Cedar being unusual to this region. There are three small ponds on the property. One was once the town “swimming hole.”
There is access for canoeing on East Street, just past the entrance, and over the river, from the DPW highway garage and Mansfield Fish and Game Association.
